Book review

 Savvy is a book about a 12 year old girl called Mississippi but everyone calls her Mibs. Mibs is turning 13 which is the time she gets her savvy, her power. But when there Poppa has a car crash and Mama, and Mibs's big brother rocket go and visit her Poppa in the hospital she's left with: her other big brother Fish, her little sister Gypsy, her little brother sampson and grandpa Bomba. The preachers wife has to take care of them all. she brings her kids Will junior  and her gum chewing spunky teenaged girl bobby. Fish and Mibs sort of freak out because her birthday will be at the church with lots and lots of pepole. (planned bye the preachers wife) what if her savvy suddenly explodes and everone sees it!! Mibs runs away from the party she has to get to her Poppa fast suddenly she spots a pink bible bus which sayis it comes from where poppa is right now she jumps in the bus thinking if it came from there it would be goin back. Fish, Will, Bobby, and sampson follow her in the bus but they get alittle suprised when the bus goes the wrong way away from Poppa. here is the link

    I really enjoyed your book review. Makes me feel like reading it! The parent in the hospital part reminded me of that Japanese movie you recommended to me where the landscapes were so beautiful.

      Aargh - I can't remember the title. It was an anime one (I think) about children whose mother was in the hospital...?

    Great review, Ella. Now that you've read Savvy a couple of times, I'd like to hear a bit more about how you feel about it -- favourite characters, parts of the story you like better (or don't much like), would you recommend it to a friend?
